knew who she was. Diminutive. Tattered
clothes. Appeared homeless. She smelled of
the streets; unpleasant odors we’d spritz
with Glade. None of it mattered.
She got off; her effect lingered.
Everyone’s still smiling since five stops
ago when she got on the
subway. For the record, someone else,
not I, called her presence angelic.

Being an Indian, I can understand this very well. Such angels abound everywhere…

Sometimes it takes others to point out the beauty we miss or have become conditioned not to see. Awesome 55!

Interesting. I like the surprise element of this being that people saw beneath the surface of this girl. There are so many just like her sadly.

Angels are often thought of as beautiful, pure white beings in immaculate dress… perhaps they’re much more subtle than that? Though-provoking 55.

Great 55. What a picture you painted. Even the smells came across with nose grasping horror. My 55 is HERE .

Welcome. Great beginning on 55. Angels sometimes hide in tatters. The wise find them anyway.

I like the fact that the people were still smiling. At first I thought they were fake smiles, but then when you mentioned she was an angel I changed my mind. Very nice!

Sweet. A word I keep using this week for some reason. But I think it applies here. Sweet in a good way.

Very Cool. I didn’t know about 55. Sounds like fun. Your piece is thoughtful and well written. It’s so good when we can find the “angelic” that surrounds us every day but so often goes unnoticed.

Thanks……….cj

Wow! A challenge and a triumph. I really like the appearance of Glade. Juxtaposition at its best.
