Egypt Offline

Down went civilian
Shooting went viral
Not the plan
Tyrant downward spiral

Pulled the plug
Lifeline lost
Connection dropped
At what cost?

Hide the truth
No proof to see
Live action
This revolution ain’t free

Who’s out? Who’s in?
Whose tale is it to spin?
When’s protesting a sin?
In this battle, who wins?

55fff

This is a Friday Flash 55.

I’m not exactly sure what’s happening in Egypt but a video of a protestor gunned down is out and now the country is without internet connectivity as citizens gear up for demonstrations calling for Hosni Mubarak to step down.  I’d prefer to see a peaceful protest in this story but something tells me otherwise…

Chaos and unrest. The Internet which was a key tool is shut down- where will this end? I agree, a peaceful solution would be the road to take but I think otherwise.

You’ve illustrated this situation beautifully! At the moment, I don’t think anyone in Egypt is winning, but my bet is on the people, eventually.

spot on!

From what I can understand, the internet is partially responsible for the unrest–doesn’t it have something to do with the WikiLeaks cable dump?

Sad situation in Egypt. Our cook at the seminary is from Egypt. I was talking to him about it this morning. People are tired of power being consolidated in the hands of a few.

Praying for peace!

God bless us everyone from the inside of a Christmas card. I don’t know who said it but that line makes sense to me right now!

Shocking what’s happening…sadly, always many many more losers than winners in these scenarios. Awesome 55.

Who wins indeed? Sometimes I am thoroughly annoyed by America, but then I see something like this a realize how bad things could be.

You’re quite the poet!

Great line, “Whose tale is it to spin? Everyone’s trying to call the outcome instead of seeing where it goes. It will go where it goes …

thx, G.

Great illustration Belinda. I have a very good friend who is Egyptian and she has so much family back in Egypt. Want it to be peaceful on so many counts, but I’m afraid, the oppression is going to fuel an uncontrollable fire.
