A Lot of Hope

I hope that clouds signal the beginning of a brighter day.

I hope that we each find peaceful moments throughout our days.

I hope that war is not inevitable.

I hope that fear of vulnerability does not cause us to bypass love.

I hope that authenticity and hugs reign over hyperreality, pretense and the virtual world.

I hope that rain today means life tomorrow.

I hope that excess for some does not mean insufficiency for others.

I hope that we discern the true cost of what we want and refrain from paying too much for it.

I hope that there remain some things that cannot be bought or sold.

I hope that religion does not veer so hopelessly off the mark that it never finds its way back to Allah, Yahweh, the Almighty and whomever else the religious worship.

I hope that books of all kinds stick around and continue to be read and shared.

I hope that education is available to all and not just those who can afford it.

I hope that choice exists for all and is not just a luxury enjoyed by the privileged or the lucky ones.

I hope that our children today will still have a livable planet when their children are all grown up.

I hope that more and more of us accept the responsibility of becoming role models for future generations.

I hope that racism, sexism, ageism and partisanship someday become a thing of the past.

I hope that, in expressing gratitude for what we have, we do not inadvertently or deliberately lower our expectations of ourselves and of each other.

I hope that we find a way to challenge each other so that we bring out the best in all of us.

I hope that, rather than resist it, we allow the process of transformation to occur after a deeply profound experience or loss or shift.

I hope that each of us finds a way to share our gifts with others.

I hope that we realize how essential to our being music, poetry and all forms of art are and that they continue to move us, nurture us, heal us.

I hope that we learn to broaden the meaning of us beyond our families, our communities, our nations, our coalitions to the extent that not a single one is left out.

I hope that we begin to embrace our differences and glean wisdom and strength from sharing them, instead of letting them divide us.

I hope that we always remember, acknowledge and respect the thread that connects all of us.

I hope that hope never runs out for any of us.

Belinda,

what a gorgeous photo. where did you find it?

I’d love to see you publish this list on a grand scale! The daily hope list. It’s so you. Then we can all start working on them. The reason they need to happen all circles back to the way we raise our young. We become the adults that have lost hope, lost touch with the magic of life. Then we all do bad things to ourselves and each other in the name of survival.

I totally do this one of your hopes: I hope that we find a way to challenge each other so that we bring out the best in all of us.

Bullying is a good example. Adults bully each other then get appalled when kids do it. I don’t think kids naturally bully each other. They do it out of frustration, or insecurity, or parental role modeling.

Give children a meaningful life and they won’t bully.

Thanks! G.

I hope there will always be people like you in my world — the ones who inspire by actions and not only words, the one who remind us to to allow hope in our lives and work to make become a reality.

One of my favorite quotes is “We judge a man’s wisdom by his hope.” ~
Ralph Waldo Emerson

In my mind I changed the gender and given this, I think you are a very wise woman:~)

Have a good weekend, Belinda!
