Interesting read! I always associated pom poms with cheerleaders and not with anything else! 🙂

This was an interesting post. I wouldn’t mind if someone pulled out pom poms for me and randomly started cheering, I think that would be a lot of fun. Who doesn’t want more fun? 🙂

I’m sure I’d find it hard to resist cracking up no matter what my mood was if someone pulled to fluffy pom poms from their purse and did a cheer for me!

They may be silly. They may be retro. They may be cheesy. But they are fun. And that’s something we ought to hang on to – or shake our pom-poms, to celebrate.

You’ve brought me back to being 15 and assemblies in high school. I love pom poms and I’m all for cheering on the entire team like Patti suggests. Leave it to her to take it the extra mile and make it something to heal the world. Don’t ya just love blogging? Thanks for the memories.

Who would have thought? And, I want someone to walk behind me with a bag of them to pull out and shake at me when I’m down. I think it would be impossible to be grumpy then.

@J.D., I can only hope that’s a good thing. Thanks for stopping by.

@Nadia, it’s alarming when people have to ask why someone is so happy. As though the norm is to be miserable and you’re an oddity to want to celebrate life. And yes, I’m all for lightening up! Thanks for your thoughts.

@Kristen, I’d smile too! As for learning to ask for and accepting assistance, I hear you. Thanks for your insight.

@Eran, welcome to The Halfway Point! It would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it?! Sometimes, a good dose of the ridiculous is just the thing to give us perspective. Thanks for dropping in.

@Eva, I have a tendency to go on a little tour. Glad you liked it. And yes, a smile, a compliment, to feel free to ask with no fear, these should be easy enough to do and still, so many of us struggle. Thanks for your take on things.

@Amber, so true. One of the many things that bind us is adversity. It’s not unfamiliar to anybody. And yes, a smile, for me, goes a long way, too. Thanks for chiming in.

@Patty, I love your idea of moving on from our respective teams to cheer on the ultimate team. That is pom-pom worthy! Glad to have you back this week. Thanks.

@Lauren, pretty funny, huh? I was a cheerleader for a minute in junior high and it was not at all what I expected. It took a lot of work, a lot of coordination, a lot of fun, and everyone on the team had to have great grades. My husband and used to play with squirt guns in the park. It was a riot! I feel like I need to teach my son first about non-violence before he holds any kind of toy gun. But, very likely, I’m over-thinking things. And yes, how very sharp of you to peg me for a pom-pom girlie! Thanks.

@Greg, glad you liked the little show of creativity here. Like you, I’d be open to expanding the use of pom-poms. Hey, maybe it’ll be the next big thing, huh? I’ve never had anyone bust out a pom-pom out of their purse to wave at me to cheer me up, but if someone were to do it, I think I just might love it! Thanks for exploring this possibility with me!

Love it.

What do I think?

I think this pom-pom post is profound. Thank you for making me think.
