Hey Belinda,

Can you imagine a day that was always consistent? How dull! No mystery. Humans try to be consistent because someone said we should be. Doesn’t seem organic, as you say. I’m not into GPS systems. If I’m meant to get lost, I prefer to go with it and see what treasure awaits me and one always does.

I find that as I learn to accept each moment of my day as it is, without judgement, (which is not always possible but I am learning) that all of my days seem to be a bit brighter.

Yesterday, being a Monday, I was feeling the drudgery of life pressing on my shoulders. When my kids and I stepped outside to leave, my daughter said “Mama, sometimes I don’t recognize the world. It seems completely new.” It jolted me out of my lethargy and reminded me to stay in the present and make each moment something special.

Your truth is beautifully spoken. Days vary but so do hours and minutes too. Embracing and learning from this intensity and calmness. We have more in common than we differ, it just may look different to the outside eye.

My favorite line is captured so visually: “Giving rise to explosive emotions that splatter stinging stains where they may land.” I imagine emotions splattering like spaghetti sauce. It may not be my intention, but it may splatter and stain.

Yes, we are organic and inconsistent! I recognize this in myself and just have to laugh sometimes. I’m such a penny-pincher on some things (always bringing my own lunch, rarely getting coffee shop drinks, waiting for paperback editions of books) but ready and willing to splurge on others (my favorite lotion, fresh berries, nice sheets). I love silence, but also love to talk… funny.

‘Consistent regularity is far too mechanical and robotic for any of us’ is a great phrase. We try to put our schedukes, tasks, lives into boxes of time yet they just don’t fit…..and you are right, we would never want them too. Wonderfully written:)
