Momentum

She has a vision.
She believes in her cause
and is completely motivated.

The problem?
She is starting solo.
She has neither resources nor help.

Is she dissuaded?
Not a chance!

Defeatism doesn’t do well against determination.

She proceeds to organize
with a friend,
then another,
then another…

Perhaps this is how movements are built.

Know anyone like her?  Has she/he gotten to you yet?

This is a 55-word flash fiction for G-Man.

Dear Belinda,

This is an awesome write! Indeed that’s how movements are built! I am doing that since some time now! Was this image behind your words?

Wish me luck, I too am doing something similar :)
Love xx

Beautiful. Movements are built this way, all they need is passion to fuel them. I think you my dear want to change the world-and you can!

Hi Belinda,

It’s Women’s History Month and last night I had the pleasure of watching Susan B. Anthony’s biography. Moving and inspirational. She pretty much started her movement alone. She voted when they said women couldn’t vote and was hauled off to jail.

Takes strength and conviction but someone has to be the first one to stand up. Then others will follow. I’ve done it before. Anyone with the drive can start a move toward something better for all.

Great poem!

G.

What a great work… This week I heard Courtney E Martin speak on TED. (I’ve become a podcast listener) and when I read what you wrote, I thought of her, not just because she is so young and has done a lot but because I found this link while checking her out creativephilanthropy(.)org and I thought – WOW. It is amazing what women (and men) of all ages are doing! Just when I find myself thinking that we are content with status quo and innovation is moving off American shores and out of American society – I read something like your work or hear about someone or find a non-profit… and I am thrilled.

Thats how all great movements start.
One persons vision, then it steamrolls.
Loved your 55 Belinda.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

From the bottom up seems to work much better than from the top down. Nice 55, and thanks for stopping by my place.

I think that’s exactly how a movement gains momentum…one committed person at a time.

A beautiful 55, Belinda.

Indeed it is how movements are born. And I know this woman very well. My daughter, who just celebrated five years breast cancer-free, will walk in the 39-mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston next May. This will be her fifth walk. She has raised over $30,000 for breast cancer research and treatment during the past four walks. Oh, yes, she got to me, all right. I’m a proud mama.

Yes. Yes. And YESSSS!!!

This brings back to mind how one woman started the movement that pretty-much dissolved Northern Ireland’s fighting. Her sister, and her sister’s 2 kids were killed.

Together we are mightier than we ever could have possibly wildly dreamed!
